Stokvel management app: contributions, payouts, and meetings

Nyocte is a free stokvel management app for South Africa. Track contributions in rand, run the rotation, hold meetings and votes, and keep every member's record open.

What it is

What is a stokvel?

Also known as: gooi-gooi, burial society, grocery stokvel, umgalelo

A stokvel is a South African savings club. Members contribute a fixed amount each month, and the pool is paid out in rotation, saved for a December payout, used for groceries, or held by a burial society for members' funerals. Stokvels often have a constitution, elected officials, and monthly meetings that move from home to home.

Most stokvels keep the book by hand and send reminders in a WhatsApp group. When a member questions a balance or an official steps down, the record is hard to reconstruct. Nyocte keeps the ledger, the rotation, the meetings, and the decisions together, visible to every member.

Mga karaniwang tanong

Is Nyocte free for a stokvel?

Yes. The app is free for every group, with no member limit and no premium tier. Payment processing, where your group chooses to use it, is handled by a payment provider and can carry a fee. Record-keeping, meetings, votes, and chat cost nothing.

Does Nyocte hold the group's money?

No. Nyocte keeps the record. Contributions can still be collected the way your stokvel already collects them: cash at the meeting, bank transfer, or mobile money. Where in-app payments are available, they are processed by a licensed payment provider and Nyocte does not hold funds.

Can a burial society or grocery stokvel use it?

Yes. The record works for any contribution pattern: rotating payouts, a year-end payout, or a fund that pays claims. Each fund can be its own account.

Is the record in rand?

Yes. The group chooses its currency when it is created, and every record uses it.
