What it is
What is a ajo & esusu?
Also known as: esusu, ajo, contribution
Ajo (Yoruba) and esusu (Yoruba and Igbo) are Nigerian rotating contribution groups. Members pay a fixed amount daily, weekly, or monthly; the pooled amount goes to one member per round, or an ajo collector holds the savings and returns them at the end of a cycle. They run in markets, offices, churches, and among Nigerians abroad.
The record is usually a card or a notebook held by the collector. Disputes over missed payments and the order of payouts are common. Nyocte gives every member the same record, keeps the rotation clear, and adds meetings and votes when the group needs to decide something.

Is Nyocte free for a ajo?
Yes. The app is free for every group, with no member limit and no premium tier. Payment processing, where your group chooses to use it, is handled by a payment provider and can carry a fee. Record-keeping, meetings, votes, and chat cost nothing.
Does Nyocte hold the group's money?
No. Nyocte keeps the record. Contributions can still be collected the way your ajo already collects them: cash at the meeting, bank transfer, or mobile money. Where in-app payments are available, they are processed by a licensed payment provider and Nyocte does not hold funds.
Is the record in naira?
Yes. The group chooses its currency when it is created. Members abroad can follow the same record.
Can one person run several ajo groups?
Yes. A collector can be the treasurer of several groups, each with its own members and record.
