About

Built for the groups that hold communities together.

Nyocte is a free community app from Remora Group. It keeps the conversation, the record, and the decisions of a group in one place.

Nyocte started from a simple observation. Across Africa and its diaspora, community groups are the backbone of social and economic life: stokvels, chamas, tontines, njangis, susu groups, alumni associations, church committees, family meetings. Yet most of them still run on a notebook, a spreadsheet, and a group chat where the record scrolls away.

We built Nyocte to give these groups the tools they deserve without asking them to change how they work. Members chat and call as they always have. Treasurers keep a record every member can open. Secretaries put the agenda and the minutes where people will find them. Decisions are voted on and stay on record. Local businesses get a page their community can find.

What Nyocte is

  • A mobile app for iOS and Android, with browser access for members and browser meetings for guests without an account.
  • End-to-end encrypted conversations and calls.
  • Group tools: roles, meetings, minutes, votes, tasks, documents, contribution records, and optional policy tracking.
  • Available in more than 40 languages, with records kept in the group's own currency.

What Nyocte is not

Nyocte is not a bank and does not hold your group's money. It keeps the record. Where in-app payments are available, they are processed by a licensed payment provider and can carry fees. Nyocte does not sell member data and does not place ads in conversations.

Who builds it

Nyocte is built by Remora Group, a company founded by members of the communities it serves. We work with the groups that use Nyocte, and most of what we build starts as a request from a treasurer, a secretary, or a chair.
