A tontine is a rotating savings and credit group found across francophone West and Central Africa, from Dakar and Abidjan to Lomé, Cotonou, Bamako, and Douala, and in the diaspora in France, Belgium, and North America. Members pay a fixed amount at each round, and the pot goes to one member in turn. Some tontines run a lottery for the order, others fix it in advance, and many combine the rotation with a savings fund or a loan fund.
The treasurer usually keeps the record in a notebook and posts reminders in a WhatsApp group. Problems begin when a member questions a past payment, when a round is skipped, or when the group grows beyond what one person can track. Nyocte gives every member the same record and keeps the meetings, votes, and messages beside it.

Set up the group in French or English.
Choose the savings group setup, name the tontine, and invite members by link or code. Assign the treasurer, secretary, and any committee members.

Enter contributions as they come in and mark who received the pot. Each member sees their own history; the treasurer sees the whole table and any arrears.

Is Nyocte free for a tontine?
Yes. The app is free for every group, with no member limit and no premium tier. Payment processing, where your group chooses to use it, is handled by a payment provider and can carry a fee. Record-keeping, meetings, votes, and chat cost nothing.
Does Nyocte hold the group's money?
No. Nyocte keeps the record. Contributions can still be collected the way your tontine already collects them: cash at the meeting, bank transfer, or mobile money. Where in-app payments are available, they are processed by a licensed payment provider and Nyocte does not hold funds.
Can members pay by mobile money?
Members can keep collecting however the tontine already collects, including mobile money outside the app, and the treasurer records it in Nyocte. In-app payment options depend on availability in your country and carry provider fees.
Can the tontine also keep a savings fund and a loan fund?
Yes. A group can keep several accounts, for example the rotation, a savings fund, and a solidarity fund, each with its own record.
