Group contribution checklist: from first payment to a record everyone trusts
What to agree, record, and share so your njangi, tontine, chama, or savings club never argues about who paid.

Agree the rules before the first payment
Write down, in the group, the things people will argue about later:
- The contribution amount and how often it is paid.
- The payout order (or how the draw works) and what happens if someone cannot pay on time.
- Any fine for lateness, and who decides on exceptions.
- Who records payments, who checks the record, and how members see their own statement.
Post these as the group's rules and vote on them once. When they change, vote again so the change is on record.
Set up the group in Nyocte
Choose the Savings or contribution group setup and name the group. Invite members with a link or a code. Give the treasurer and the secretary their roles; other members can see their own record without being able to edit it.
If your group runs more than one fund, create an account for each: the rotation, the savings pot, the emergency fund. Keeping them separate is what makes the year-end report simple.
Record every payment the same day
Record each contribution as it comes in, against the member and the account it belongs to. Cash at the meeting, a bank transfer, or a mobile-money payment all go in the same record. A payment recorded the same day is rarely disputed; a payment recorded from memory a month later almost always is.
Show members their own record
Members should be able to open the app and see what they have paid and what is outstanding without asking the treasurer. That single change removes most of the messages a treasurer receives.
Review the record at each meeting
Put a two-minute "contributions" item on every agenda: total collected, who is behind, and what was paid out. Members hear the same numbers at the same time, and the minutes carry the figures forward.
Close the cycle with an export
At the end of a rotation or a year, export the ledger and share it in the group. A group that can show its record is a group people join.

Does Nyocte move the money?
No. Nyocte keeps the record. Members can keep paying in cash, by transfer, or by mobile money, and the treasurer records it. Where in-app payments are available they are processed by a licensed provider and can carry fees.
What if a member disputes a payment?
Open the member's record. Every contribution shows who recorded it and when. If something was recorded wrongly, the treasurer corrects it and the correction is visible too.
Can we track a rotation and a savings fund at the same time?
Yes. A group can keep several accounts, for example the rotation, a savings fund, and an emergency fund, each with its own record.
