Nyocte is a free community app that keeps a group's conversations, meetings, votes, and contribution records in one place, for savings circles, associations, committees, and families across Africa and the diaspora.
Nyocte started from a simple observation. Across Africa and its diaspora, community groups carry much of social and economic life: njangis, chamas, stokvels, tontines, susu groups, alumni associations, church committees, family meetings. Most of them still run on a notebook, a spreadsheet, and a group chat where the record scrolls away.
We built Nyocte to give these groups proper tools without asking them to change how they work. Members chat and call as they always have. Treasurers keep a record every member can open. Secretaries put the agenda and the minutes where people will find them, and decisions stay on record.

Votes have quorum and a deadline, and members who missed the meeting can still vote from their phone. Chairperson, secretary, and treasurer are roles, so the record stays with the group when the person changes. Learn more →

What makes Nyocte different
Guests join meetings without an account
A Nyocte meeting link opens in any browser: the guest types a name and joins. On WhatsApp everyone needs the app and a phone number, and Google Meet asks guests for a Google account when the host uses a personal one.
No 40-minute cut-off
Nyocte does not end a meeting at a fixed time. Zoom's free plan stops group meetings at 40 minutes and Google Meet's free plan at 60 minutes for three or more people, often before a general assembly reaches its last agenda item.
Free for every group, with no tiers
No member limit, no premium tier, and no ads in conversations. Zoom's paid plans start at about $13 per host per month; Nyocte's only cost is the payment provider's fee, and only if a group collects money through the app.
Decisions and money on record, not in a scroll
WhatsApp polls are a quick show of hands, and contribution records usually end up in a spreadsheet or someone's personal account. In Nyocte the vote, the minutes, and the ledger sit beside the conversation, where the next treasurer can find them.
Encrypted where it should be, auditable where it must be
Chat and calls are end-to-end encrypted. Ledgers, minutes, votes, and documents are deliberately not, because the group has to be able to audit and export them. We say plainly which is which.
In the languages communities speak
The app works in more than 50 languages, including Swahili, Yoruba, Hausa, Amharic, and Somali. Records are kept in the group's own currency.

How Nyocte works
Getting started
Download Nyocte on iOS or Android and sign in with your phone number; there is no password to remember. Create a group, or start a meeting straight away without one, and share the invite link in the chat your members already use.
On a computer
Open web.nyocte.com and scan the QR code from Settings → Linked Devices, or use the desktop app for macOS or Windows. Meeting guests only need a browser.
